Everard J. Booth
Ordained:
In 2020, the Central and Southern Province Jesuits named Booth as credibly accused of more than one allegation of sexual abuse occurring in an “estimated timeframe” of the 1960s. The Province added Booth to their public list after an audit uncovered one allegation and another individual came forward claiming abuse by him.
The family of one alleged victim accused Booth of sexually abusing their family member while he was stationed at St. Charles College in Grand Coteau. Other details of Booth’s alleged abuse of minors is unknown. Booth worked for two periods at Jesuit High School in New Orleans in the 1940s and from 1971 to 1986. In his second term at Jesuit High, he served several roles such as disciplinarian, homeroom teacher, and bookstore manager. He also worked as moderator and director of activities for the Catholic Youth Organization at St. Stephen’s Parish and served on the Archdiocesan Youth Council.
