Dino Cinel

In 2018, the Archdiocese of New Orleans named Cinel as credibly accused of sexual abuse of minors. In 1988, while living at St. Rita, a fellow priest found him with child pornography and tapes Cinel had made of himself having sex with teenage boys in the rectory. Cinel was removed from active ministry in 1988 and criminally charged with possession of child pornography in 1991, being acquitted on grounds that he had obtained the pornography prior to Louisiana criminalizing its possession. Subsequently, Cinel left the clergy, moved to New York, married and had two children, but he was not laicized until 2010.
After divorcing in 2015, Cinel moved to Columbia. In 2018, he was murdered there by his 18-year-old male lover.
