Ordained for the Diocese of Austin where he worked 1959-61. After a leave of absence he was incardinated in 1968 to the Salina, KS diocese. Accused in a 2/1/05 lawsuit of sexually abusing a 14-year-old boy, along with Rev. Leger Tremblay, in 1955 in the Alexandria diocese. McCarthy was then a seminarian at Assumption Seminary in San Antonio, TX. Abuse said to have included rape and oral battery. McCarthy knew the boy from Camp Maryhill near Pineville. The case was dismissed 7/31/06 due to the statute of limitations. McCarthy died 11/27/17.
