Sister Laurdette was one of several church clergy and staff sued in 2005 for abuse at Madonna Manor Catholic home for troubled children.  In 1964, Social Worker Cecile Stone visited Madonna Manor and noted that Stacey Brown was covered in welts and bruises from a beating at the hands of Sister Laurdette.  A month later the Stacey Brown had “extensive bruises” on his face and when questioned about it, Sister Laurdette “admitted that ‘she let Stacey have it,’ and ‘took Stacey into a room alone for several minutes and beat on him,’ ” Stone wrote.  Numerous plaintiff’s filed suit against the Archdiocese for the alleged abused at Madonna Manner with one claim settling for almost 5.2 million dollars in the Fall of 2009.
