Lawrence Hecker
Ordained: 1958
A 2019 lawsuit accused Hecker of abusing boys who were attending St. Joseph School in Gretna, LA in 1968. The lawsuit accuses Hecker of taking the plaintiff and other schoolboys behind the church altar and groping the boys’ genitals.
The lawsuit alleges that a separate accusation of child sexual abuse disclosed in 1996 led Hecker to be removed by the church from the ministry in 2002. The archdiocese has allegedly paid out settlements in four cases involving Hecker.
